Every Saturday you can buy seasonal food very cheap and of course fake designer labels. It is great fun haggling, although my children are better at it than me!

Olives are a main Turkish product and you can buy them fresh at the market. You can also buy cold pressed olive oil usually sold in recycled coke bottles!

Chillies are sold on strings. These are hand strung by the nimble fingers of the Turkish women. Turkish food is not too hot and spicy but you can ask for extra chilli!

There is always a cheese stall at the market. Here you can buy cheese, butter, eggs and honey. The honey comes from the pine forests which surround Dalyan. All the food is fresh and locally produced. By buying it you are helping to sustain the local economy.

The colours and smells of the spice stall assail your senses as you walk by. The spices are fresh and cheap. Stop to try some of the famous apple tea. It makes a refreshing change.
